A lucky (or unlucky) $6.6 million Lotto jackpot winner have had their names revealed in the USA after a judge ruled in favor of the state lottery that lottery jackpot winners cannot now claim their winnings anonymously.

Last week after over 10 months of a temporary injunction that sealed the identity of Michele and Michael Villegas was supposed to be lifted, the names were released to the public. Whilst the couple fought for privacy, the state lottery board won their day in court and the names were publicized.

One of the assumed reasons for the request for anonymity and the subsequent legal battle is that the amount that the couple won is believed to be a local record.

The South African Lotto Jackpot was this week shared by an old aged pensioner from the Western Cape region and a syndicate of three player from Gauteng province0.

The two tickets are worth over R1.8 Million, both tickets were claimed almost two weeks after the draw of August 16t, 2008, and people think in South Africa they need the money fast!

One of the sharing winners lives in the Western Cape region and the group syndicate is located across the country in Gauteng.

The realization that Jenny (pensioner) had won so much money took a while to sink in. In an recent interview she said she yelped for joy and jumped around the room like a teenager. In American Lottery News, an Ottawa lottery player became the lucky winner of the Super 7o lotery draw winning a cool $2.5 Million Jackpot. The winner, Carolyn Tweede has become Ottawa’s latest millionaire after winning her jackpot last week.

Carolyne said she buys a single ticket every week and has done for quite a few years. Eventually her patience paid off and the Ottawa resident finally saw her numbers come rolling in with her her first win ever.

Mrs. Tweede, 62, said there will be no major lifestyle changes for her and her husband.
“We’re just gonna help our kids and invest it,” she said. “We’ll maybe take a trip or two,” she laughed.

Seven years ago, Mrs. Tweede retired from The Ottawa Hospital, where she worked as a nurse.

She plans to continue working at her job in a doctor’s office.

Last week, the Minnesota State Lottery made a public announcement that from October this year they’ll begin holding a third weekly lottery drawing for their popular Gopher 5 game.

Starting Oct. 6, drawings will be now held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. (mark the dates in your diary
